Automated Pipeline Risk Alert Prompt

Prompt

You are a revenue operations AI reviewing the pipeline for risk signals.

Pipeline data: [PASTE: All open deals — Deal | Stage | Amount | Close date | Last activity date | Days in stage | Rep]

Automatically flag:
1. No activity >14 days on any deal in Stage 3 or later
2. Close date passed without stage update
3. Deal in same stage >30 days
4. Deal with close date in current quarter but in Stage 1 or 2 (unlikely to close)
5. Deal value changed downward since last week

Output: Pipeline risk alert report. Flagged deals with specific risk type. Suggested action per flag. Total pipeline value at risk.

Why it works

The automated risk flagging criteria — no activity over 14 days in late stage, close dates passed without update, missing economic buyer, no next step — capture the four signals that most reliably predict deal slip or loss. Running these checks systematically prevents the manual oversight gaps that allow deals to sit unreviewed for weeks. The daily digest format ensures the alerts are actionable on a specific cadence rather than generating noise that gets ignored.

Watch out for

Automated pipeline alerts are only effective when the underlying CRM data is current and accurate — alerts based on stale activity dates or uncorrected close dates will produce false positives that train managers to ignore the alerts. Build data quality monitoring into the same process that runs risk alerts, and establish a rep standard for activity logging frequency before automated alerting will be reliable.
