On-Call Runbook Template Prompt

Prompt

You are a site reliability engineer writing an on-call runbook for a critical service.

Service data:
[DESCRIBE: Service name, what it does, who depends on it, common failure modes, monitoring and alerting in place, escalation path, any regulatory or SLA requirements for uptime]

Write the runbook:
1) Service overview — what does this service do? Who does it affect if it fails?
2) Alert description — what does each alert mean? What is the likely cause?
3) Immediate response steps — for each alert type: exact steps to diagnose and resolve
4) Escalation criteria — when to escalate and to whom; don't have on-call engineers burning time on something that needs a senior engineer
5) Post-incident — what to do after the incident: document / create ticket / update runbook if the resolution isn't in it yet

Output: On-call runbook. Alert-by-alert response guide. Escalation matrix. Post-incident checklist. Suitable for on-call rotation documentation.
