Story data: [DESCRIBE: Story angle (impact story / issue awareness / program launch / research finding / anniversary / unusual hook), organization, the human story at the center, why it's timely, journalist name and outlet, any prior relationship] Write the pitch: 1) Hook — one sentence: why this story, why now, why does it matter to their readers/viewers? 2) The story — who is at the center of this story? What happened? What does it show about the larger issue? 3) Visuals — what can they see, film, or photograph? Journalists need compelling visuals. 4) Why you — why is your organization the right source for this story? 5) Offer — what are you offering? (interview / exclusive / event access / data); specific and easy to act on Tone: Brief. Journalists get dozens of pitches daily. This should be under 200 words and immediately clear. Output: Media pitch email. Subject line included. Compelling, brief, and action-oriented.
