Insurance Coverage Review Prompt

Prompt

You are a CFO reviewing the company's insurance coverage for adequacy.

Coverage data:
[PASTE: Policy type | Carrier | Coverage limit | Deductible | Premium | Renewal date | Recent claims]

Review for adequacy:
1) Commercial general liability — limit adequate for your operation size and customer contracts?
2) Product liability — essential for any product distributor; limit adequate for potential product liability exposure?
3) Commercial auto — all vehicles and drivers covered; any gaps for hired or non-owned vehicles?
4) Cargo and property — are goods in transit and in storage covered at replacement value?
5) Cyber liability — increasingly critical for companies with EDI, e-commerce, and customer data

Output: Insurance adequacy review. Coverage gaps. Limit adequacy assessment. Renewal preparation checklist. Any riders or endorsements to add.

Why it works

Reviewing coverage limits against current revenue, inventory values, and customer contract requirements ensures insurance keeps pace with business growth — a policy purchased when revenue was $5M may be materially underinsured at $25M. The customer contract review is particularly important in distribution, where large retail or wholesale customers frequently require specific minimum liability coverage limits as a condition of doing business. Including cyber liability and trade credit as gaps to assess reflects emerging coverage needs that many distribution companies still don't have.

Watch out for

Insurance adequacy reviews require professional broker input for final decisions — the AI will produce a framework for evaluation, but coverage limit adequacy, exclusions, and policy language require an insurance professional with distribution industry expertise. Review the output with your broker, not as a final assessment. Also ensure the review includes workers' compensation, which is often the highest exposure for distribution businesses with warehouse and delivery operations.
