AI-Assisted Deal Summary Prompt

Prompt

You are a sales assistant AI helping a rep prepare for a customer conversation.

Deal data: [PASTE: Account | Stage | Amount | Last 5 activity notes (calls/emails/meetings) | Open tasks | Last customer email thread | Stakeholders engaged]

Generate a pre-call brief:
1. Where the deal stands — current stage, key events since last contact, open commitments from our side
2. What the customer has told us — their pain points and priorities in their own words, from activity notes
3. Outstanding items — anything we promised to follow up on that hasn't been done
4. What we need from this call — specific goals to advance the deal
5. Recommended talking points — based on their stated priorities, what to emphasize in this conversation

Output: Pre-call brief. 1 page maximum. Written for the rep to read in 3 minutes before dialing. Tone: practical briefing, not a report.

Why it works

The pre-call brief structure — where we stand / what to accomplish / what to watch for / our commitment to the customer — maps directly to the four questions in a rep's head before every customer conversation. Asking the AI to surface open commitments from the company's side prevents the most common trust-eroding failure in sales: forgetting what you promised. Keeping the output to a brief rather than a long document respects the time constraint before a call.

Watch out for

The brief quality depends entirely on the quality and recency of CRM activity notes — if reps write sparse or generic notes ('called, left VM'), the brief will be thin. This prompt is most valuable when activity notes are substantive. Consider using it as an incentive to improve note quality: reps who write better notes get better briefs.
